About Us
Flight For Life provides helicopter transportation for patients needing critical care service within a 150-mile radius covering a 32-county area. Our team includes a pilot, flight nurse and a flight paramedic specially trained in both adult cardiac life support (ACLS) and pediatric advanced life support (PALS) for critical patient transports.
In December of 1985, the Flight For Life aeromedical program was born. Trinity Mother Frances recognized a need for rapid transport, in a critical care environment, of critically ill and injured patients from isolated rural medical facilities and EMS agencies to more advanced care centers such as Mother Frances Hospital.
Today, Flight For Life transports critically ill and injured patients to Tyler’s busiest Emergency Care Center at Mother Frances Hospital - Tyler, seeing over 65,000 patients per year. Mother Frances Hospital – Tyler, a licensed 404-bed acute care facility that includes a Level II Trauma Center, with 50 ICU beds, and serves as the region’s referral center for Cardiac, Obstetrical, Gynecological, Pediatric and Hyperbaric Oxygen Services.

Flight For Life averages 600 to 700 transports each year. When requested, Flight For Life also assists medical helicopter programs in Dallas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and other nearby areas.
When needed, local law enforcement enlists the help of Flight For Life during search-and-rescue missions.
Aviation services are provided and operated by Air Methods Corporation of Englewood, Colorado. FAA air carrier certificate # QMLA253U.
Ground Safety Courses For agencies interested in utilizing Flight For Life services we offer a Ground Safety Course that includes our Flight Crew and aircraft coming on-site to cover the imperatives of Flight For Life procedures: • Activating the system • Preparing the Landing Zone • Ground operations
